Our objections - whether they be theological or psychological - usually have but one root: It is pride that makes us reject the message of repentance. For repentance means humbling ourselves before God and man, changing our ways and making amends. In doing so, we admit that our former ways were wrong, and that is humbling. No other sin is so firmly ingrained in our hears as pride, especially in the hearts of those who acknowledge Jesus as their Savior. . M. Basilea Schlink
About This Quote

A few months ago, I was returning home from work. I was stopped by a cop at a red light. After my driver's license was checked, the officer asked me to follow him to his vehicle. The reason? He noticed something in my wallet that he thought might be an illegal substance.

When I opened my wallet, I was shocked when he pulled out a small sandwich baggie with some marijuana. I was stunned when he told me that this was in fact in my wallet, in my possession, and that he could smell the smell of marijuana on it. He told me that if I had any more in my car or in my pocket, that he would have to take me into custody. I was terrified because this entire time I had no idea that there was any marijuana in my wallet whatsoever! I explained to the officer what had happened. Now, if you are reading this right now, please understand this is not a story of someone who has consumed or used marijuana at all times throughout their life.

My story is one of an innocent man who has never once smoked or consumed any form of marijuana throughout his life being pulled over for being "high". I have no idea why this happened to me, but it made an impact on me that has never left. It made me realize how absolutely important it is for us to treat others with respect and dignity even when they are doing something wrong or against the law. This young man did not deserve what happened to him because he never did anything wrong or illegal whatsoever.

We must always remember our responsibility as Christians when it comes to people doing things against the law. We should not judge them but rather love them and pray for them. As Christians, we are called to love everyone unconditionally; even the ones who are doing things against the law or against God's will should be treated with respect and dignity no matter what they are doing.
